It’s Spring Break time at Willow Creek Elementary! While kids are counting down the days until they have 1 week off of school, parents are asking themselves, “How am I going to entertain them for that long?”
If you’re unable to get out of town for Spring Break and need ideas, you should read this! Whether you need a week long camp or just creative ways to spend a few hours with your kids, there’s plenty of deals to be had in the Denver area. I’ve attached the link of each individual website or coupon to the ideas below for your convenience.
I am always searching for inventive ways to entertain my children. Sometimes, I’d rather do it in the comfort of my home. A few of my favorite DIY crafts at home are: making a homemade lava lamp out of antacid, vegetable oil, and food coloring, creating crayon art, and watching the kids clunk around in handmade elephant feet. If you want to move the mess outside, try making chalk paint out of cornstarch and food coloring.
If you start to feeling cooped up in the confinements of your home, there are other people and places that can do the entertaining for you! There are great deals right now through Groupon and Living Social that kids of all ages can enjoy. Keep in mind that some of these deals are time sensitive, so try and book them as soon as possible. A few options for older kids are: up to 68% off paint balling at Paintball Adventures, up to 50% off nerf gun wars at Dart Warz, and up to 47% off archery lessons at Quick Draw Archery.
For those looking for camps during the week of Spring Break, there are great online resources! South Suburban has a variety depending on ages and interests. Lifetime Fitness offers an alternative day camp that my children have done in the past and thoroughly enjoyed. If you’d like to implement some imaginative learning during that week, Mad Science is offering a deal through Living Social for 67% off week-long camps.
To all my fellow parents out there, have a great Spring Break…and good luck!
